Matt Standefer

Chef

Born in Texas, raised in Baton Rouge, Matt fell in love with cooking at an early age by creating Louisiana food in his parent’s kitchen. Knowing what he wanted to do after high school, he enrolled in culinary school where he graduated top in his class. Matt jumped into the restaurant scene in Baton Rouge with both feet and before long became executive sous chef at the prestigious Baton Rouge Country Club. From there Matt decided to pursue his knowledge of classic French cuisine under the direction of well-known chef, Michael Jetty at Maison La Cour French restaurant and became chef de cuisine. There Matt learned the fine art of French cooking, technique, and love for all things butter and cream.

The Northshore called Matt’s name in the spring of 2012 in the form of the executive chef position at Tchefuncta Country Club. There he was able to introduce his extensive knowledge of French Cuisine with his own Louisiana twist. Matt currently resides on the Northshore with his wife Sarah, a beagle, dachshund, and cat. He is excited to bring the residents of Windsor Senior Living his unique flair of cooking with good old country comfort.

His favorite quotes are “If you are afraid of butter, use cream.” by Julia Child and“You don’t need a silver fork to eat good food.” by Paul Prudhomme.
